Attendance:  Kelly Butzlaff, Colleen Holz, Pastor Manns, Mary Wisnet

 

Introductions: As we introduced ourselves we shared our favorite thing about spring.

 

Awareness and Education Committee Sub-Committees:

 

Committee Membership:  We have lots of work to do and need to we increase our own committee membership.  We have a few people on our committee that havenŐt made it to a meeting in a while.  Kelly will follow-up with Julie Coenen.   Mary Wisnet will follow- up with Nikke Voelzke.  Pastor Manns will meet with Kim Lee to determine her involvement.  Everyone is to bring a new, interested member to our next meeting.

 

It was decided that having a set meeting date and time would be helpful.  We will be meeting the Third Tuesday of the Month from 12:30 to 1:30 at the United Way of the Fox Cities.  Bring your own lunch.  2009 meeting dates include:  April 21, May 19, June 16, July 21, August 18, September 15, October 20, November 17, December 15

 

SpeakerŐs Bureau:

Update of SpeakerŐs Bureau Orientation: We currently have 9 trained members and 1 person who was unable to attend the orientation but would like to be involved.

Report of Speaking Engagements for February & March:

á         February 25 - Approximately 70 to 80 Boys & Girls Brigade Ninth Graders heard about Project Promise and participated in a game to simulate the hard choices made while living in poverty.

á         March 11 - Reggie Bicha, State of Wisconsin Secretary of Children and Family and members of his staff heard the history of and an overview of current happenings during his visit to Appleton.

Upcoming Speaking Engagement:  None

Other resources requested by the SpeakerŐs Bureau:

á         PPPC Brochure:  Reviewed and gave suggestions to the draft that Pastor MannŐs has begun to develop.  Kelly to send Pastor Manns the Project Promise Logo and information she has regarding 2-1-1.

á         A Map of school districts receiving a % of free & reduced lunches was requested during SpeakerŐs Bureau Orientation.  This is put on hold until we have time to work on it.

PPPC Annual Community Report

Begin preparations for the January 2010 Event:  Determine location since the PAC is not available.  Kelly will contact UW Fox Valley.  Pastor Manns will contact the Grand Meridan.  Everyone is to think of appropriate locations and bring suggestions to our next meeting.  The tentative the date is set for Friday, January 15 pending availability of location.
